LYNDA HIRSCH ON TELEVISION — GOSSIP, by Lynda Hirsch – Creators Syndicate

Where in the world is Bill Spencer? The “The Bold and the Beautiful” character was the driving force for the show. He was a mover and shaker-upper. He relished destroying people’s lives. He had a soft spot for his sons, Wyatt, Liam and Will. He bedded more women than a Sealy mattress. Don Diamont, who plays Spencer, was always perfect in the role, so just bring him back from wherever he is.

Brad Bell, the show’s head honcho, has a tempting spoiler. He claims a startling event in March will change everyone’s lives. He says it has never been done in daytime — perhaps because it is not a good idea. When the late Paul Rauch was heading “Guiding Light,” he too claimed the story was never done before. He decided to clone Reva (Kim Zimmer). It was around the time a sheep named Dolly was cloned for real. Yes, it was awful, as you may have predicted.

Speaking of Zimmer, her romantic “GL” lover, Josh, was played by Robert Newman. Newman was hired to replace Richard Burgi in the role of Ashland Locke. Burgi accidentally broke COVID protocol when he went to Florida to visit family. Newman is doing a great job in his new role. At first, it was going to be a three-week stint. Then they asked for three years. Newman agreed to sign on for a year. It will be fun to see Victor and Ashland.

Four fan favorites are returning to “Days of our Lives.” Father Eric returns to exorcise the devil from Johnny that has taken him over. He came back to Salem to do the same for his mother, Marlena. Last time, Greg Vaughan, who plays Eric, was only back for a day. This time, he will stay in Salem for a while. Also coming back is Ben’s father, Clyde, played by James Read. Clyde is really a character who can go from tough to touching in a nanosecond. The cherry on top: Will and Sonny will be back on the canvas.

“General Hospital” has two characters that can be off the canvas: Peter and Nina. Peter is the man who will not die. Please kill him off. Nina is irritating and self-righteous. None of this has anything to do with actors. They get the script and make it work.

Susan Lucci had a health scare earlier this month. Her clogged heart arteries could have led to a fatal heart attack. Surgery was given and a stent was put in. She says all is well. Lucci had the same issue three years ago. She wants women to take care of their health. If you have chest pain, do not shrug off as indigestion. Go to the hospital, she says. Lucci exercises, watches her diet and still has heart issues.
