Water Circus at Starlight Ranch
Cirque Italia’s Water Circus: Gold Unit is coming to the Starlight Ranch Event Center, 1415 Sunrise Drive, through March 27.
Cirque Italia presents “Aquatic Spectacular.” The name reflects a unique attribute, as the show features a custom designed water stage that travels from city to city. The stage holds 35,000 gallons of water that performers dazzle over while thrilling the audience with every move.
Started in 2012, Cirque Italia is an Italian entertainment company that brings a performance of European style. It is described as a “vivid, dramatic, and moving experience under a customized traveling tent.”
At Cirque Italia, the high-energy acts swing from ropes, flip over trapezes, and zip by on BMX bikes and roller skates — pushing the boundaries of human ability.
Inspired by the element of water, the acts express versatility and fluidity through human movement while curtains of rain and fountain jets crisscross in time to each move. Laser lights and bubbles also add to the interdimensional effect.
Shows are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 17, 18, 19, 21, 23, 24, 25 and 26; 1:30 p.m. on March 19, 20, 26 and 27; and 4:30 p.m. on March 19, 20, 26 and 27.
Reserved seat ticket prices range from $25 to $50 (depending on seating); and children’s ticket prices range from $10 to $45 depending on seating).

Symphony presents Mozart, Brahms
Amarillo Symphony presents Mozart and Brahms at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 25-26, at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts, 500 S. Buchanan St.
Music Director Finalist Conner Covington conducts the orchestra in Mozart’s “Exsultate Jubilate”, featuring guest singer soprano Ashley Robillard.
Also on the program are Brahms’ pastoral “Symphony No. 2” and Quinn Mason’s cheerful and energetic “A Joyous Trilogy”.

Stoney LaRue to perform at 100 Club fundraiser
KGNC/Tri-State Ford 100 Club Fundraiser featuring Stoney LaRue is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts, 500 S. Buchanan St.
Ticket sales will benefit the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle.
The mission of the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle is to provide assistance to the families of peace officers and firefighters who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty. It also provides law enforcement and firefighting agencies with life-protecting equipment that cannot be secured through budgeted funds and agencies, as well as providing the agencies with educational opportunities.
The Lone Star-born and Oklahoma-raised LaRue has transformed himself into an unlikely Renaissance man. He is a deft songwriter, informed traveler and self-aware philosopher, a troubadour who converses just as easily about Indian yogis and gurus as he does about Texas barbecue and dance halls.

Museum of Art hosting annual fundraiser
The Amarillo Museum of Art, 2200 S. Van Buren St., is hosting the 20 x 20 Art Exhibition and Silent Auction, its annual fundraiser now in its 16th year, which is designed to celebrate art and support AMoA’s innovative education programs as well as the local artist community.
This year, AMoA is welcoming patrons back to the museum for a 20 x 20 reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 31. Artworks will be sold to the highest bidder with bids starting at $150.
This year’s exhibition will be installed for museum visitors to view for two days, March 30-31. Images of the artworks will also be featured on the AMoA website where they can be viewed and bid on.
Although we will be gathering together in person, all bidding will take place online and bidding will end at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 31.

Human trafficking awareness event set
Freedom in the 806 and Starlight Ranch Event Center present The True Story 2022 artist group at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Starlight Ranch, 1415 Sunset Drive.
The event aims to bring awareness to the true story of human trafficking.
It will feature art, music, food trucks, and community education. Admission is free.

‘South Pacific’ comes to Civic Center
“South Pacific” comes to the Amarillo Civic Center Complex, 401 S. Buchanan St., at 7:30 p.m. on April 5-6.

CMA presents Music in the Gardens
Chamber Music Amarillo presents Schubert: Double Cello Quintet at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 8 at the Amarillo Botanical Gardens, 1400 Streit Drive.
The Harrington String Quartet will join Leonid Shukaev, Bruce Lin and local luthier Kruno Kupresanin for the final performance of the 2021-22 season.
Kupresanin will delve into the life of a luthier and his award-winning instruments as the artists perform Couperin’s “Sonate en Trio” and Mozart’s “Trio in G Major”. The program will end with Schubert’s Double Cello Quintet that is considered a work that perfectly blends the instruments and a perfect way to close the 24th season.
Featured musicians are Rossitza Goza, violin; Evgeny Zvonnikov, violin; Vesselin Todorov, viola; Emmanuel Lopez, cello; Leonid Shukaev, cello; Kruno Kupresanin, bass; and Bruce Lin, piano.

ALT to present ‘Art’ April 7-16
Amarillo Little Theatre presents “Art” from April 7-16. It was the winner of the 1998 Tony Award for “Best Play.”
How much would you pay for a white painting? Would it matter who the painter was? Would it be art?
The comedy, which raises questions about art and friendship, concerns three long-time friends, Serge, Marc, and Yvan. Serge, indulging his penchant for modern art, buys a large, expensive, completely white painting. Marc is horrified, and their relationship suffers considerable strain as a result of their differing opinions about what constitutes “art”. Yvan, caught in the middle of the conflict, tries to please and mollify both of them.
This hilarious play was the very first production staged at the ALT Adventure Space in August of 2001. It starred Bobby Schaffer, Brad McBride and Allen Shankles.
Allen will pay homage to this great show as he steps out of the lights and directs this great comedy.

Tejas Brothers coming to Amarillo
The Tejas Brothers are scheduled to perform at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the Golden Light Cantina, 2906 SW 6th Ave.
The Tejas Brothers are the original Tex-Mex Honky Tonk band from Fort Worth. Founded in 2006, the band has been recognized as one of the best live acts in the Lone Star State, with fans often traveling hundreds of miles to catch a live performance.
The group specializes in recording and performing original Americana/Country/Folk music, influenced by Country, Rock, Blues and Tex-Mex.
No advanced tickets will be sold. Entrance is a $15 cover at the door.
Cody Johnson to perform at Starlight
Cody Johnson is set to perform live at Starlight Ranch, 1415 Sunrise Drive, on Saturday, April 23. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.
Country troubadour Johnson puts as much effort into making his concerts a straight-from-the-heart experience as he does with his recordings. But from the way he tells it, that’s really the only way he can operate.

Tritt bringing country classics to Amarillo
