Transfer gossip: Man Utd eye Abraham with doubts over Darwin Nunez deal – Football365

Man Utd could give Roma a huge return on their investment in Tammy Abraham, with a Darwin Nunez deal perhaps a non-starter…

UNITED TARGET TAMMY
After Arsenal were linked with Tammy Abraham, Manchester United are now said to be keen on the idea of bringing the England forward back to the Premier League.

Abraham has been in fine form for Roma since joining from Chelsea, with the 24-year-old having bagged 23 goals for Jose Mourinho this season. His record since the turn of the year puts him eighth on the list of Europe’s highest goalscorers of 2022.

Corriere dello Sport says Abraham’s haul has sparked United to life as they prepare to strengthen their forward line in the summer while Corriere della Sera suggests the Red Devils may be willing to pay £76million, which would represent a huge profit on the £34million Roma deposited in Chelsea’s bank account last August.

Fabrizio Romano, however, reckons United would be p*ssing squarely into the wind, with Roma having no intention of selling the centre-forward.

NUNEZ DEAL DEPENDS ON TOP-FOUR FINISH
So United could switch their focus to Benfica striker Darwin Nunez…

The Red Devils were reported yesterday to be ‘paying very close attention’ to the Uruguay international who is said to be ready to move this summer.

But The Telegraph suggests United may be on the back foot already, with any move for the £60million-rated 22-year-old hinging on Champions League qualification.

Manchester United finally put women front and central

EVERTON SET TO SELL A STAR STRIKER
United might find it simpler to go and pilfer one of Everton’s strikers this summer.

They have been linked with both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, with the Brazilian said to be higher on their wishlist.

According to The Sun, the Toffees will be forced to sell one of their strike pair before the start of next season, regardless of whether or not they stay up. Everton have posted losses of £121million and Jamie Carragher described them as ‘the worst-run club in England’.

PHILLIPS EYES NEW LEEDS DEAL
The Red Devils are also among a host of clubs to be linked with England midfielder Kalvin Phillips. But they, and everyone else, could be sh*t out of luck…

Aston Villa are pushing hard for Phillips, while Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham and Manchester City are also credited with an interest in the 26-year-old.

But the Mirror says Phillips has told Leeds that he wants to sign a new contract with his hometown club. Philips’ current deal expires in two years.
