Transfer gossip: Arsenal set to spend £215m this summer; youngster snubs Liverpool transfer – Football365

Arsenal are on track to spend £215m this summer, while a youngster has snubbed the chance to join Liverpool…

GUNNERS BACKING ARTETA
Arsenal will take their spending to £215m this summer if they can land all their top targets, according to reports.

The Gunners spent £140m last summer as they brought in Takehiro Tomiyasu, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Nuno Tavares, Martin Odegaard and Albert Sambi Lokonga to boost Mikel Arteta’s squad. And they will build on their progress over the past season, in which they ran Tottenham close for fourth place, by splashing another £215m on new faces, according to the Daily Mirror.

Porto yesterday released a statement saying that Arsenal had sealed a £30m move for Fabio Vieira, despite the Gunners not officially confirming the deal, while Sao Paulo youngster Marquinhos has also joined. And the Daily Mirror adds that Arsenal ‘are not stopping there, not even close’.

Arsenal are likely to pay the ‘£50m asking price’ for Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus after Alexandre Lacazette’s departure on a free transfer this summer. They will also target another midfielder with Arteta a ‘huge admirer’ of Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans with Arsenal apparently ‘trying to move on current central midfielder Granit Xhaka before they sanction the signing of Tielemans’.

Leeds United attacker Raphinha could be the ‘most expensive addition of the whole window’ with the Yorkshire club not prepared to accept ‘anything less than £60m’. But it could also be ‘the most complicated deal to get over the line’ with the Gunners needing to move £72m flop Nicolas Pepe on before doing a deal.

It is understood Arsenal have had a £30m bid turned down for Ajax centre-back Lisandro Martinez but that ‘has not deterred them’ with the Argentina international ‘thought to be in favour of moving to north London’. And the Daily Mirror continue by saying all of those deals will cost them ‘£215m to be precise’ if successful.

YOUNGSTER TURNS DOWN REDS
Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ismael Gharbi has turned down the chance to sign for Liverpool, according to reports in France.

Reports in recent weeks had indicated that Liverpool wanted to bring the youngster to England before he signed his first professional contract with the Ligue 1 champions. Gharbi has been in the PSG youth setup since 2016, making four senior appearances this campaign in all competitions, while he has also scored three goals in four appearances for the France under-18s.

Speaking yesterday, French journalist Fabrice Hawkins claimed that Gharbi ‘will sign his first professional contract’ – which was official later on Friday – despite ‘the biggest European clubs positioning themselves’ with Liverpool ‘making him a very good offer’. Hawkins added that PSG ‘has always been the midfielder’s priority’.
